Structure and Functions of the Department

The Department of Manufacturing Engineering is a structure of four teams:

• the Manufacturing Technology team, with teaching activity concerning the design of technological processes,
• the Cutting Tools Design team, with teaching activity concerning the cutting process and the design of cutting tools,
• the Metal Forming Technology team, with teaching activity concerning the equipments and technology related to net-shape manufacturing processes other than cutting: cold metal forming, polymer forming, composite materials forming etc.
• the Machine-Tools Devices team, with teaching activity concerning the design of machine-tool devices and related problems.

The Department of Manufacturing Engineering cover an important part of the technological training of the students in Managerial and Technological Engineering, Economical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the graduate students in the following graduate studies fields: Computer Aided Machine and Machine Systems Command, Modern Computer Aided Technology Design, Integrated Functional Design of Cutting Tools, Modern Technologies of Polymers and Composite Materials Forming, Computer Aided Design of Mechanical Systems.

The research activity of our staff is diversified, seven professors being habilitated PhD advisors: Cons.Prof.Dr.Doc. Ion LAZARESCU, Cons.Prof. Gheorghe PETRICEANU, Prof. Csaba GYENGE, Prof. Petru BERCE, Prof. Gligor ABRUDAN, Prof. Gheorghe ACHIMAS and Prof. Horatiu IANCAU.

Of the teaching staff of 26, 18 have allready a PhD title, while the others are all PhD candidates. Two members of the staff are doctors of foreign universities.
